Vintage Irving offers the expected wine bar setting with dim lighting, wooden tables, exposed wood, and candle-light, along with a wide selection of wines. What sets Vintage Irving apart however is that it’s not all about the wines. Everything alcoholic at this bar cum restaurant is top-notch. Whether it be your beer, wine, or cocktail selection someone is there to guide you through the process of picking what will be just right to suit your current fancy or go with your meal (there’s even a selection of carefully crafted absinthe cocktails, $15). When it comes to the food, the focus is on small plates with a nice selection of cheese and cured meats along with salads, Bouillabaisse, and Lobster Bisque -- there are even Jelly Doughnuts. Vintage Irving, which comes from busy bee Michael Sinensky (whose other venues include Proof Bar & Lounge, Village Pourhouse, Hudson Terrace, The Big Easy, and Dino’s in Ithaca, NY), is set-up with mostly 8-seater, wooden tables so this a perfect place to go with a larger group especially since the menu is mostly centered around small plates (3 plates for $12, 6 plates for $24, 9 plates for $34, 12 plates for $40). If you’re all by your lonesome however, no fret because there is an expansive wine bar and the friendly sommeliers will be more than happy to chat with you, especially when it comes to describing their beverage program.
